Actively managed "fund-of-funds" ETF's? Why?Submitted by Jim Kneser on March 11, 2007 - 9:01am.
It appears that there is a new trend in which active managers are charging high fees to aggregate passive ETF's for investors. Since there are now over 400 ETF's out there, decision paralysis may have created this opportunity. I suggest that you don't need to pay the additional 150 basis points for this dubious assistance. Following a strategy such as that recommended by Solin will very likely beat these funds on both a gross and net basis when risk is taken into consideration. Always remember to start with the amount of risk you are willing to accept and then seek to achieve the highest return you can without exceeding you risk limit. The attached article describes the ETF funds and new "strategy" I described derisively above.
