Fall 2005Fall 2005 CoursesCourses ARTS & HUMANITIESHISTORY OF IMPRESSIONISM IIThursdays, 1–3 pm If you love the French impressionists (and who doesn’t?), you’ll love this course. Here’s your chance to take a closer look at some of the artists who ignited one of the most exciting artistic revolutions in history. Lectures serve up a savory stew of cultural and political history, biography, and visual treasures to focus on the lives and careers of Degas, Caillebotte, Mary Cassatt, Monet, Renoir, Van Gogh, Gauguin, and Toulouse-Lautrec. You’ll see how this close-knit group of artists responded to Baudelaire’s call for paintings of “modern life” during a period rife with radical social and intellectual change.
